Drag racers from as far as British Columbia convened under sunny skies at Infineon Raceway for the weekly running of the Wednesday Night Drags, Sept. 3. Many drag racers used the opportunity as a test and tune for the PINKS All Out event, Sept. 5-6, at Infineon Raceway where a selected 16 of 450 racers will compete for bragging rights as well as $10,000 and a NAPA tool chest.
Some of the evenings highlights included a Jack Pot final that featured a father/son match-up in the final round. In the end, the younger Darren Fridolfs edged his father, Gene, in the dash for the cash. Motorcycle rider Doug Love was perfect on the tree and eliminated Robert Wright in the motorcycle class final. In addition, Willie Woo continued his winning ways in Comp Rod stopping first-time finalist Michael Smith for class bragging rights.
Don Waltenspiel made it back-to-back wins in Sport Street edging out a too quick Nitro Nick Eagan in the final. Steve Romans claimed the Street class trophy with his "Tyler Brayton Racing" Chevy truck downing Rick Morgan's Camaro in the championship round. In High School, the evening belonged to Chris Simas who turned back the efforts of newcomer Brian Kinni for the top honors and the first place trophy.
