SONOMA, Calif. - The IndyCar Series enters 2009 with a new television package, one that will certainly enhance coverage of the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County weekend at Infineon Raceway, Aug. 21-23.
The race weekend in Sonoma will be broadcast on VERSUS, and it will tentatively boast seven hours of coverage. A one-hour preview show highlighting qualifying will be broadcast on Saturday, Aug. 22, followed by the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County main event on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 2-5 p.m.
A three-hour recap of the race weekend is also tentatively in the works for Monday, Aug. 24, from 1-4 p.m. This recap will feature the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County, as well as a highlights package from the Indy Lights race, among other items.
VERSUS can be found on DirecTV on Channel 603 (Channel 604 HD) and Dish Network on Channel 151 (Channel 9468 HD). For standard cable providers, such as Comcast, please check your local listings. You can find VERSUS in 73 million homes and the network is the national cable home of the NHL, as well as The Tour de France, Davis Cup Tennis and the Professional Bull Riders.
In addition to VERSUS, the IndyCar Series will feature five races on ABC (produced by ESPN). ABC will air the Indianapolis 500 for the 45th consecutive season, as well as races in Milwaukee, Iowa, Watkins Glen (N.Y.) and Toronto.
