Wednesday Night Drags racing action took over the Infineon Raceway drag strip, Oct. 1, with three local racers taking home first-time wins.
Pacifica's Chuck Gerughty, a 58 year certified public accountant, endured six rounds of stiff competition to earn his first-ever trophy in the Street class by beating odds-on favorite John Victorino in the final.
Retired fire chief, Michael Smith, of Fairfield added his name to the list of first-time winners when he stopped Napa's Joe Rossi in the Comp Rod final. Also claiming a first win was Rohnert Park's Dan Moore in High School class, who edged out Walnut Creek's Brian Kinni.
Wednesday Night Drags racing will return to the Sonoma Valley drag strip on Oct. 8. Gates open at 3 p.m.
