Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway, runs the 3J's Motorcycle Track Days program, and since its inception in 2003, the organization has distributed nearly than $200,000 to many worthy causes, including $135,000 to rider Vincent Haskovec, who was injured during an AMA weekend at Infineon Raceway in 2005. Starks created the 3J's concept with long-time friend Jim Randolph.
The March event will feature an open motorcycle track day over the twisting road course, sumptuous lunch, T-shirt and raffle, with all proceeds benefiting needy youth organizations in Sonoma County and the Airfence Fund. Cost is $225 (does not include raffle); to register please call Jenah Smith at 707-933-3990 or visit www.3jstrackdays.com.
"This is the only 3J's event for 2008, so we hope to attract a number of riders who would otherwise never get to ride their motorcycles on our world-famous road course," Starks said.
The festivities will continue into the evening hours at Infineon Raceway with a Spaghetti Feed and Auction, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $50 for the dinner ($25 if you participated in the 3J's day) or $500 for a table of 10. There will be entertainment, as well as a live auction.
One of the highlights of the day will be a drawing for a new Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle. Tickets will be sold all day for $50 each, with the winner announced shortly after dinner. Only 200 tickets will be sold for the Suzuki drawing. To purchase tickets for the drawing in advance call Denise Silver at 707-933-3950 or email dsilver@infineonraceway.com.
